Australia vs Sri Lanka World Cup Match | 5 March 2011| Star Cricket Live

March 5, Colombo, Start time 2.30 pm (0900 GMT)

It would be great to see Australia playing against Sri Lanka in the world cup game after a long time. Last time Australia got a chance to play Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka was denied due the security concern raised by the Australian cricket side. But that was the only sorry part, in the same world cup 2007 they meet each other in the final and after a thrilling match Sri Lanka become the world cup winners.

2011 world cup is not being good for the Sri Lanka side, they beat the minors quite easily but struggled against the strong side like Pakistan, worst part was they gave wickets to the spin bowlers. So this is the match to keep the expectations high as there are many who are considering them to be the world cup winner for 2011. Sri Lankan bowling needs to be better though Malinga is the man for them other needs to bowl better two.

Australia who always played like champions in the world cup got defeated by the Indian side in warm-up matches but they won everything after that with authority and showed the world what they are. They have their bowling line up stronger than their batting which is better them many of other sides playing in the world cup 2011. Shane Watson is the man to look for due to his ability to contribute with bat and bowl and he can be dangerous in either of them.

Hope to see a excited match as there are only couple of world cup matches who made crown sit on their TV sets.

Squad for Australia vs Sri Lanka WC match:

Australia (probable) 1 Shane Watson, 2 Brad Haddin (wk), 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 David Hussey, 6 Cameron White, 7 Steve Smith, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Jason Krezja, 10 Brett Lee, 11 Shaun Tait.

Watch Bangladesh v West Indies ICC World Cup 2011 ODI Online Live

West Indies will travel to Bangladesh to play the 19th game of the World Cup at Mirpur in Dhaka. The game will be played at the Shere Bangla in Dhaka.

West Indies started with a poor performance against the South Africans but came back strongly with a win over Netherlands rather easily. On the other hand, Bangladesh were beaten by India and then eked out a narrow win over Ireland.

For more reasons than one, this will be an interesting game. For one, Bangladesh are playing it at home which means that they have a good advantage going into the game. On the other hand, West Indies are traditionally better team than Bangladesh and with the form of Kemar Roach, it will be interesting to see how the Bangladeshis play.

Shakib al Hasan and Abdur Razzaq will have a lot of responsibility riding on their shoulders.

N Zealand v Zimbabwe World Cup | 4 March Match

Zimbabwe play the 18th game of the cricket World Cup against New Zealand on March 4. Both the sides will be playing in their third game each after winning one game and losing one games each.

This means that the winner of this game will have a good chance of making it to the top four slot, a must to get to the quarter-finals.

New Zealand will know that while they will go into the game as favourites but will have a lot of ground to make. For one, they will need to beware that if they bat first they will need to play coolly under the moist conditions. If they bat second, they will need to restrict the side to a low score given that the Zimbabweans have many spinners in their ranks.

Zimbabwe will look to their top order to deliver. For one, Brendan Taylor needs to start scoring some runs along with Charles Coventry. Then, Tatenda Taibu needs to continue with his good form as well.

South Africa take on Netherlands in a Group B match of the CWC 2011. The Proteas are one of the top favourites to win the title while Netherlands are comparatively only an also ran. So Grame Smith, the South Africa captain should not be too worried about the outcome of this match. Or should he be?

Topping Group B can have a very good benefit. It is very, very likely that New Zealand would finish fourth in Group A. Finishing first in this group means playing them in the quarter final, and that is something that all the teams would want to. All the other three potential QF opponents are very, very dangerous side and South Africa would be keen to avoid them as far off as possible.

Once the World Cup reaches the knock out stage it becomes a bit of a lottery as you can expect to lose to any big team on a given day.

Netherlands were impressive against England. It almost looked like we were going to see the first upset of the World Cup but that did not happen. Against, West Indies however they really floundered. Can they come back to the party tomorrow?

The Netherlands sure has the talent with the batting. In fact if Dirk Nannes had not deserted the Dutch camp, this could be a very good team. However the ICC would be happy with the progress that these team has made. They look like a potential very good cricket team of the future.

Mohali - 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup Venue

mohali cricket stadium icc world cup 2011 match venue
Mohali under Floodlights.
Arguably the best cricket stadium in Indian, The Punjab cricket association stadium also known as Mohali Cricket Stadium is situated in Mohali.   Best known for its facilities for practice and spectator 1st test match was played here way back in December 1994 (10th to 14th) between India vs West Indies and become the 19th test cricket venue in India.   It is really appreciated the way this stadium has become from an ordinary cricket ground to tremendous world class stadium in short span of time.

New generation cricket i.e. one day international cricket first played on November 22nd, 1993 between India and South Africa.  size wise this is the second largest cricket ground in India with a seating capacity of 45000 cricket fans.  The construction of this cricket ground was done in 25 crore Indian rupees and took 3 years to complete.   Also known for its flood lights which are unique in term of number and heights which is very unconventional compared to any cricket ground around the world.  There are total 16 floodlight towers in

Mohali cricket stadium compared to 4-6 in most the the cricket stadium world over. The low height of flood lights are result of its location near to airport which later become its trade mark.To stop spectators entering into the cricket field there is a man made lake which is approx. a meter in height and breath, this has made sure till date that no one enter into the field and interrupt the cricket match.  The greenest cricket field make it pleasure to your eye in you see it from any end of the ground.

Unlikely other cricket ground, pitch in Mohali cricket ground is quite lively and supportive to fast bowlers. Every visiting cricket team want to play in this ground due to dominate of fast bowlers in their ranks.  This very cricket ground become the venue of Semi final encounter of Australia and West indies in 1996 and will host 3 matches of 2011 cricket world cup including semi-final.

for those who want to visit this stadium, its complete address is: Sector 63, SAS Nagar, Mohali in Chandigarh - 160059, Punjab.

Feroz Shah Kotla - Venue ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

feroz shah kotla cricket world cup match venue 2011
Day Night Cricket Match in Action at "Kotla"
The Feroz Shah Kotla or Kotla was originally a fortress built by Sultan Ferozshah Tughlaq to house his version of Delhi city called Ferozabad. A pristine polished sandstone pillar from the 3rd century B.C. rises from the palace's crumbling remains, one of many pillars left by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka; it was moved from Ambala, Punjab and re-erected in its current location in 1356.

On 27 December 2009, an ODI match between India and Sri Lanka was called off because pitch conditions were classed as unfit to host a match. Based on match referee's report of the match, Kotla, which is scheduled to stage four World Cup matches in 2011, faced strict sanction ranging from a fine to a ban of 12 to 24 months. More than 14 months ban would have meant Kotla's exclusion from 2011 Cricket World Cup. But the ICC decided to ban Kotla for only 12 months, and as a result of that Kotla continues to be one of the venues for 2011 Cricket World Cup.

VVS Laxman During his Knock of 281
Though this is a one of the noted cricket grounds in world there have been many incidents, which can be considered as the black spot on Eden Garden's History.  Riot broke down in 1966/67 during West Indies tours and again in 1969/70 during Australian Cricket team's tour. Semi Final of Cricket World Cup 1996 was called off due to crowd set fire to the stands due to collapse in Indian run chase.

Eden Garden has also seen some of the most memorable moments in the history of Test Match Cricket.   Who can forget the hat-trick of Harbhajan Singh against Australian Cricket Team in 2000/01 at this very ground to become the first Indian ever to take hat-trick in Test Cricket.   One can also memorize the 281 run inning by VVS Laxman against Australia in the season of 2000/01, which was made after India took follow-on by Australian team.  This match later was won by Indian team and said to be "One of the greatest come-from-behind victory".
