Sardar Patel Stadium will host 3 WC Matches
One of the venues of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 is Sardar Patel Stadium. Sardar Patel Stadium is established in 1982 at Motera, Ahmadabad, Gujarat and owned by Gujarat Cricket Association.  This is also commonly known as "Motera Stadium".  Total capacity of Motera is 54000 spectators, which makes him largest stadium in Gujarat,India.  This cricket stadium is earlier knows as Gujarat Stadium and later named on first home minister and deputy prime minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Pate.  It took just 9 months in 1982 to construct this stadium and ever since all international cricket matches being held in here where earlier they were hosted in Muncipal Corporation Stadium,Ahmedabad.

Sardar Patel Stadium has seen many noted event and most favorite of them is 10,000 runs scored by former Indian opener and captain Sunil Gavaskar which was done against Pakistan.  Kapil Dev too become the highest wickets taker in test match when he took 432nd wicket on this very ground.

Rajasthan Royals adopted this stadium as their home venue in IPL and hosted all their 7 home games in 2010 season.

Though Motera has witnessed many of great feats in indian cricket histroy, here are few noted moments:
  1. Sunil Gavaskar completed 10,000 runs in Test cricket in 1986-87 against Pakistan.
  2. Kapil Dev, who had taken 9 wickets in an innings in the first match on this ground scalped his 432nd wicket in Test cricket to pass Sir Richard Hadlee's record, thus becoming the highest wicket taker in Test cricket at that time.
  3. In October 1999, Sachin Tendulkar scored his first Test Match double-hundred in a match against New Zealand.
  4. Sachin Tendulkar completed his 20 years of International Cricket here on November 16th, 2009 against Sri Lanka. During the same game, Sachin Tendulkar reached a landmark of 30,000 runs in International cricket which by far no cricketer has achieved.
  5. AB de Villiers reached his first double-hundred against India during the second test of South Africa's tour to India in 2008.
