Cricket World Cup 2011 match between: India vs England
Cricket world cup 2011 26 Feb Match time: Start time 14:30 local time (08:30 GMT)
There is a atmosphere building for India v England, World Cup 2011 match, Group B, M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, at Bangalore. Why there is such hype? The match shifted to this venue thanks to the Eden Garden authorities, tickets arrived late where are very few for distribution. Cricket fans just launched to the ticket windows to buy and watch their favorite team, I am sure there were not even a single English cricket fan standing on that ticket row, as it was impossible to stand still in the lines of tickets for Bangalore world cup match. Keeping in mind the record of Indian team in India, cricket fans may be sensing a win.
England came to this cricket world cup 2011 with win in test matches and lost in ODI series 6-1 against Australia. They were put against the walls in game against Netherlands when the minor made them chase 293 which they achieved just 8 balls to spare. Their bowlers struggle to bowl against the Netherlands, and paid the price of high scores by them, thanks to the batting display by senior players they won the match.
Andrew Strauss is quite confident for this match that they will perform better than last time though the record against Indian cricket team in India is totally against them. They have played total 12 ODI matches in India since 2006 managed to win only 1, which was helped by the Kevin Pietersen century. That century was the last time Pietersen made an ODI century he too is struggling these days. Talking of Pietersen, he came to world cup with a clear plan, to play as many overs as he can and make the runs during the advantage of power plays and he is quite capable of doing it. The decision of start opening look like a good move and I remember how, Mark Greatbatch, Shane Watson,Virender Sehwag,Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasurya did after shifting to the opening slot. Playing at Bangalore is like playing at his own backward as Pietersen plays for IPL franchise Royal challenger.
Shifting of venue from Kolkata to Bangalore might give advantage to the English side as wickets would be with a bit of bounce. Broad,Anderson and Benson will enjoy bowling at the M.Chinnaswamy cricket stadium wicket. They also have to think on the bowling combination as wickets might offer spin for slow bowler but I doubt if they will include more than one spinner in their final squad.
After comfortable win under their belt Indian team have less to worry about for the match against England on 27th February 2011 at Bangalore. Almost all the players got important match practice for the upcoming world cup match. Performance of top order is heartening though there is much more expected from the Sachin Tendulkar and Gautam Gambir. Virender Sehvag’s is fully fit for this game and would be opening.
The concern for the Indian team is their third fast bowler, Sreesanth performance against Bangladesh is not something that will help him earn place in final eleven but his record against the England side is excellent. Ashish Nehra though bowled long spell with full run-up in the nets and should replace Sreesanth if fully fit. No worries in the spin department as there are a lot of options for Dhoni for slow bowling.
Pitch Condition India vs England World Cup match:
There is a lot of rain in Bangalore and I wonder if ICC had a better replacement keeping in mind the switch of match venue? It is expected to offer bounce to the fast bowlers, but warm-up match between India and Australia saw it turned. Storm is expected in evening, which may damp 40000 cricket fans who are gathering to watch the cricket world cup 2011 match at Bangalore.
